BUSINESS ASSISTANCE INFORMATION

City of Chicago
Chicago Department of Planning and Development actively promotes growth and development in Chicago's diverse neighborhoods with a focus on the continued economic development of the City. The Department works with the existing business community and also works to attract new business to Chicago. All of this is done in the context of holistic, community-based planning, closely coordinating activities with residents and community organizations.

Business Infrastructure Assistance Program is designed to promote the revitalization of areas of the City through the timely implementation of physical improvement projects.

State of Illinois
Illinois Department of Commerce & Community Affairs promotes more than twenty business programs for business and loan assistance. Here you will find a description of each program along with toll-free and local phone numbers to get more information on each of these.

Federal Government
U. S. Business Advisor
exists to provide business with one-stop access to federal government information, services and transactions.  The site provides answers to questions that business people frequently ask government.  It contains expert tools, step-by-step guides and transactions.   The Advisor also gives current news items of interest to the general business community.

Small Business Administration was created by Congress in 1953 to help America's entrepreneurs form successful small enterprises.

The Minority Business Development Agency of the United States Department of Commerce is the only Federal agency specifically created to encourage the creation, growth, and expansion of minority-owned businesses in the United States.

Food and Drug Administration regulates approximately one-quarter of the United Stated gross national product in areas of food , human and animal drugs, tobacco, cosmetics, biologics, medical devices, and radiation emitting products. The sites listed provide general information about FDA regulations as well as commodity-specific information. U.S. Department of Commerce, International Trade Administration consists of four main categories: A.) The Commercial Service, which provides business counseling to U.S. exporters in  83 domestic offices and 134 overseas offices in 69 countries; Trade Development, whose industry sector specialists provide information and analysis to U.S. exporters , policymakers and all trade negotiators; Market Access and Compliance whose country experts provide invaluable market analysis to U.S. business; and Import Administration, which safeguards the American economy from unfairly priced imports.

Department of Commerce - STAT-USA is a service of the U.S. Department of Commerce, is the site for the U.S. business, economic and trade community, providing authoritative information from the Federal government.

Federal Commons is an effort to provide a common face of the Government to the Grantee Organization Community for the purposes of grants administration. Through the FEDERAL COMMONS interface, grantee organizations (Universities, Research Institutions, Small Businesses, State and Local Governments) are able to become more familiar with Electronic Grants Administration activities ongoing in any of the participating agencies.
