Crisis
Intervention
This area of the Chicago
Department of Human Services responds to Chicago's social
service needs around the clock, seven days a week. The
mechanism it uses to accomplish this feat is the Crisis
Response area, which provides 24-hour support and crisis
intervention to victims of fire, sexual assault and domestic
violence, and those suffering from homelessness, hunger
and other emergency situations.

programs for disaster mitigation, preparedness, response,
and recovery together with private organizations, political

to the President. Since its founding in 1979, FEMA's mission
has been clear: to reduce loss of life and property and
protect our nation's critical infrastructure from all

emergency management program of mitigation, preparedness,
