City of Chicago
Mayor's Office of Workforce Development (MOWD)
administers a job training program funded through the Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA) of 1982. MOWD provides job training to dislocated (laid-off) adults and economically disadvantaged adults and youths (e.g. welfare recipients, food stamp recipients, persons living below the poverty line, homeless individuals). Job training programs are offered through delegate agencies across the city. These delegate agencies contract with MOWD to provide vocational classroom training, on-the-job training, basic readjustment services and basic skills training.

State of Illinois
Illinois Department of Labor
enforces labor laws which regulate wages, hours of work and working conditions for all Illinois workers, resolves employee - employer disputes and enforces occupational safety and health standards which protect public sector employees.

America's Career Info Net (ACINet) traces its beginnings to June of 1996. At that time, the U.S. Department of Labor began development of a web-based application in support of America's Labor Market Information System (ALMIS). This application, called ACINet, accesses the ALMIS Database and displays a variety of occupational, demographic, and labor market information at the local, state, and national levels. It also includes an extensive collection of links to other Internet resources through its Career Resource Library.

U.S. Department of Labor - Employment and Training Administration seeks to ensure that American workers, employers, students, and those seeking work can obtain information, employment services and training by using federal dollars and authority to actively support the development of strong local labor markets that provide such resources. ETA promotes settings where a combination of public and private providers offer individual and business customers their choice of a broad array of high quality and affordable services.

U.S. Dept. of Labor - Training Technology Resource Center (TTRC) supports the information needs of service providers, state and local administrators, and other employment and training stakeholders. The on-line system offers access to information on workforce development models, initiatives, and emerging policies; Job Training Partnership Act related training programs; issues concerning workplace reorganization; emerging training technologies; directories; and current DOL initiatives.

U.S. Dept. of Labor - Welfare-to-Work program website which includes a wide variety of information about the Welfare-to-Work program, including grants available to employers..

U.S. Dept. of Labor - Recruiting and Training Welfare Recipients website is geared to assisting Federal human resource managers in hiring and retaining welfare recipients. It contains many links to related sites and permits Human Resource managers to search for offices by program or geographic locations.

U. S. Immigration and Naturalization Service enforces the Immigration and Nationality Act.  Employer information is provided on the latest changes made to employment verification provisions of this Act.   Employers can also volunteer to participate in pilot programs for employment eligibility confirmation.  You an also download the Employment Eligibility Verification Form I-9.
