AGING  SERVICES  INFORMATION

City of Chicago
Chicago Department on Aging offers a wide range of programs and services for the city's senior citizens including the following:  Chore/Housekeeping Service, Foster Grandparents Program; Home Delivered Meals; as well as information on special events.

State of Illinois
Department on Aging aims to improve the quality of life for Illinois' older citizens and to help them live independently in their own homes and communities.

Circuit Breaker and Pharmaceutical Assistance Program was designed to give low-income senior and disabled residents access to essential medication. Each year, a participant “purchases” Pharmaceutical Assistance coverage at nominal cost and receives approved prescription medication through participating pharmacies. Each participant is issued a Pharmaceutical Assistance card, which validates his or her participation in the program and shows the effective dates of coverage.

Federal Government
Administration on Aging site includes information about the Administration on Aging and its programs, information about resources for practitioners, statistical information on the aging, and information for consumers including how to obtain services and electronic booklets on aging related issues. There is also a nationwide toll-free number for information and referrals. It is called the Eldercare Locator, 1-800-677-1116, and based on town or zip code gives referrals to services in local communities.
