Department
of Financial Institutions
regulates the state's
credit unions, currency exchanges, consumer finance and
title insurance companies. It aims to protect Illinois
consumers by ensuring the financial safety and soundness
of these institutions. 
Office
of Thrift Supervision,
a bureau of the Department of the Treasury, is the primary
regulator of all federal and many state-chartered thrift
institutions. The OTS also offers the general public information
including thrift applications in process, contact information
for persons who wish to file a consumer complaint about
one of the regulated thrifts and quarterly information
on conditions within the thrift industry. Department

Bonds and other Treasury securities. In addition to current
interest and details on the features of savings bonds,
users will find a wealth of information about the
earnings on their bond holdings. There's a "Savings
Bond Wizard" that bond owners can download and use
to set up an electronic inventory of their bonds. The
Wizard automatically provides the current redemption values
of all the bonds, and can be updated with new values twice
a year. In addition to savings bond owners and purchasers,
bank personnel will find the web site very useful.
Department
of Education, Student Financial Assistance makes
available billions of dollars annually in need-based grants,
loans, and work-study funds to enable millions of students
to attend college. This site provides applications, publications,
and a wealth of resources.
