Vital Statistics
The issuance and recording of vital statistics such as birth certificates, marriage certificates and death certificates are maintained by county clerks throughout the Chicago area.  Information on how to obtain copies of these records can be obtained from the following areas of the County Clerk websites for events that occurred in their respective jurisdictions.

Selective Service System
For nearly two decades men have gone to post offices, completed and mailed a registration form, and waited 60 to 90 days to receive an acknowledgment card from us. A man can still register by mail, but now there is a better way. If he has a valid Social Security number, he simply connects to the Selective Service Web Site which links him to the Agency’s computers. He clicks on the "Register Now" icon, types in his registration information, clicks on the "Submit" button which appears on the screen, and instantly receives his Selective Service number.

U.S. Census Bureau, Department of Commerce
The Census Bureau collects, analyzes and disseminates statistical data on our population and our economy. The public and private sectors use these data every day to help make important decisions that affect the lives of every U.S. resident. These data include everything from monthly imports and exports and retail trade activities to the age, race, and sex characteristics of our population, their living arrangements, and housing conditions. U.S. Census Bureau, Chicago Region staff is responsible for  field data collection and data dissemination throughout the region. U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) protects the public from unreasonable risks of injury or death from 15,000 types of consumer products under the agency's jurisdiction. To report a dangerous product or a product-related injury and for information on CPSC's fax-on-demand service, call CPSC's hotline at (800) 638-2772 or CPSC's teletypewriter at (800) 638-8270. To order a press release through fax-on-demand, call (301) 504-0051 from the handset of your fax machine and enter the release number. Consumers can obtain release and recall information at CPSC's web site at the address below or via Internet gopher services at cpsc.gov. Consumers can report product hazards to info@cpsc.gov.

General Services Administration (GSA) Auction Sales
GSA holds an auction when there is a large number of items for sale in one location. GSA auctions include the sale of vehicles, miscellaneous surplus property, salvage and wrecked vehicles, and occasionally seized property.

Federal Statistics
More than 70 agencies in the United States Federal Government produce statistics of interest to the public. The Federal Interagency Council on Statistical Policy maintains this site to provide easy access to the full range of statistics and information produced by these agencies for public use.
