UNEMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING INFORMATION

City of Chicago
Mayor's Office of Workforce Development (MOWD) administers a job training program funded through the Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA) of 1982. MOWD provides job training to dislocated (laid-off) adults and economically disadvantaged adults and youths (e.g. welfare recipients, food stamp recipients, persons living below the poverty line, homeless individuals). Job training programs are offered through delegate agencies across the city. These delegate agencies contract with MOWD to provide vocational classroom training, on-the-job training, basic readjustment services and basic skills training.

State of Illinois
Illinois Department of Employment Security administers the State’s unemployment insurance program, operates a public job placement service and provides local labor market information. Find locations, fax and phone numbers for IDES offices and Employment & Training Centers located across the state.
